Ultimo baluardo di resistenza dinanzi all'incedere tecnologico, “Avamposto” è quella legione della coscienza che ancora si oppone allo snaturamento dell’umano, preservando l’integrità di un passato in estinzione.
L’installazione si incentra sull’accostamento di due elementi: una lamiera di ferro forata e una struttura di sostegno in acciaio zincato su cui giacciono sospesi dei fazzoletti in cotone e seta bianchi.
I fazzoletti si offrono alla vista solo valicando il limite fisico e metaforico della lamiera che si erge in difesa, lasciando loro al contempo minimi spiragli di connessione al mondo esterno mediante le sue aperture.
Dietro ad essa, quindi, non militanti, ma dei pegni o dei simboli di un'arresa. La loro precarietà si affida a un ponteggio di sostegno come fosse un edificio pericolante.
Si rimanda ad un conflitto atavico e quanto mai urgente, quello tra tradizione ed innovazione, in cui l’uomo si ritrova vittima e complice di sempre nuove stipulazioni.
Last bastion of resistance against the advance of technology, "Avamposto" is that legion of consciousness that still opposes the denaturalization of the human, preserving the integrity of a vanishing past.
The installation focuses on the juxtaposition of two elements: a perforated iron sheet and a galvanized steel support structure, on which white cotton and silk handkerchiefs are suspended.
The handkerchiefs are only revealed to the viewer upon crossing the physical and metaphorical boundary of the iron sheet, which stands as a defense, while still allowing minimal glimpses of connection to the outside world through its openings.
Behind it, then, are not militants, but tokens or symbols of surrender. Their fragility relies on a support scaffold, as if they were a crumbling building.
This references an age-old and increasingly urgent conflict, that between tradition and innovation, where man finds himself both a victim and accomplice to ever new agreements.
